Search for missing boater continues on Silver Lake

Crews this morning are resuming the search for an Illinois man who went missing while boating in Silver Lake on Tuesday.
The missing man was identified by his daughter as John D. Spoor, 66, of McHenry.
“He came up here a couple times a week to fish,” said the daughter, Melissa Matusek, who was at the search scene this morning. “He knew this lake inside and out.”
Silver Lake Fire, Silver Lake Police, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, the Kenosha County Dive Team and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the call for the missing man at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday with battery such as Draeger MS14234 Battery, Draeger Medical GAMMA Battery, Draeger Medical MS18340 Battery, Siemens SC9000XL Battery, Siemens SC7000 Battery, Siemens Medical Syste SC7000 Battery, Comen CM-100 Battery, Comen ICR18650 Battery, Comen CM-1200A Battery, Comen G60 Battery, Comen G50 Battery, Comen HYLB-1010 Battery. They searched nearly three hours before calling off the search for the night.
Silver Lake Fire Chief Allie Draeger this morning said the search is now being considered a recovery mission. Lake County, Ill., was en route this morning with a sonar-equipped boat to aid in the search.
Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said the man’s boat was found, not capsized, in a patch of weeds with a dead trolling motor battery.
